Bloomsburg Downed by Pitt-Johnstown in Women's Basketball

BLOOMSBURG- Pitt-Johnstown's Samantha Conner scored 21 points to lead the Lady Cats to a 57-46 comeback victory over Bloomsburg University on Saturday afternoon.

Bloomsburg got off to a fast start in the game jumping out to a 14-0 advantage when Kelly Burkhart (Sayre/Athens) drained a three-pointer with 15:34 remaining in the first half. However Pitt-Johnstown switched to a full-court press and was able to force a number of turnovers to climb back into the game. At halftime, the Huskies lead was cut to 28-20.

The Lady Cats then opened the second half with an 11-0 run and moved ahead 31-28 with 15:48 remaining in the game. The Huskies stayed within a few points for the majority of the game until the 4:43 mark when Pitt-Johnstown went on a 7-0 run to close out the game.

Burkhart scored a team-high 16 points, while Jamie Kauczka (Kingston/Wyoming Valley West) added 14 points on 6-9 shooting and grabbed 11 rebounds. Freshman Colleen Kegerreis (Schuylkill Haven/Schuylkill Haven) also added eight points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots for the Huskies.

The Huskies fall to 6-19 on the year, while Pitt-Johnstown improves to 18-7. Bloomsburg will play its final home game next Wednesday against West Chester at 5:30 p.m.
